Loose tires, amazing shows, we are a traveling band!

So All the Apparatus hit the road, and we went and had a great time playing with Thunder Power at Luckey's. After crashing overnight in Eugene (P.s. Thanks to Mike's parents for feeding us and letting us crash!) we headed down to San Fransico where we had a killer time playing accoustic sets down near Fisherman's Wharf and Hyde St. Pier.  We also had a show at the Rockit Room. Where we rocked it out with  Gun Town and Adios Amigos. We've had nothing but sunshine and music on this trip.
After surviving the roads of San Fransico, (in particular Hyde St. I think some band members started to believe in God again at that point.) We took off for L.A. On the way though we nearly lost our back tire,  all but one lug nut was shorn off and we are lucky that we were able to get it fixed up. With the unexpected downtime we raided the local 7-11, Jenna and Sherrilyn got sports injuries from leap frog, hung out in the bushes and good times were had by all.
When we got to L.A. we had a chance to stop in and chill with our Producer David Eaton. (thanks for lunch David!) we then rushed over to KXLU radio station at LMU. Tuesday night at about 5pm you'll be able to hear us on the radio!
Last night we had a Amazing show at The Mint, thanks to ALL OF YOU that came out and supported the band, moved the tables and danced away with us.
So where are we now? We are enjoying a beautiful day in San Diego with a show at Winston's tomorrow night at 9pm and... it's FREE!
Also for those of you in Utah we have added a Provo show at The Velour on the 12th (Friday) when we know the time and cover we will let you all know we can tell you that it is All Ages!
But next stop is Las Vegas, scorching heat and cheap buffets here we come!

Seattle you beauty.

Today AtA headed up to Seattle, what a gorgeous day outside the Westlake mall! Thanks to all of you that listened, danced and help support the band today!
In AWESOME news our album can now be bought online here.
Also this upcoming week we hit the road for a tour through some of the western states. The first stop is Eugene, OR where a few of the band members hail from, and we will be at Luckey's Wednesday night.

Portland Rose

Dustin Geddes has been with AtA since Hawaii, however he wasn't able to move to Portland right away with the rest of the band. When Dustin did roll into town, he brought the song Portland Rose with him.

Portland Rose

Rose just sit tight till I show my face, we’ve waited so long please stay in one place. My words will be deeds in another two weeks, till then keep on pulling your weight and your weeds.

It’s raining like pets in Portland in May. I gave up my home and headed your way. Though I’ve never meet you your mine my dear rose. Just wait, wait right there in your elegant pose.

I will be in the band on the stage at the show. I’ll let my soul sing and I’ll let my horn blow. And I’ll play in a way so that you’ll know the sound of a man waiting twenty-five years to be found.

Oh Rose! Rose! You’ll jump on the stage and plant a big kiss on my lips and my face!
I’ll marry you! I’ll marry you! I’ll make you my bride! You’ll be my companion, the rib from my side.
Just wait! Just wait! I’ll be coming soon! Just give me two weeks late May early June.

Oh Rose!

Let's Go Outside and Go Ride Bikes!

On occasion we have people ask for the lyrics to our songs. This week I’m starting with an AtA classic, Let’s go outside and go ride bikes. Which we recently re-recorded on our new self titled album.
Let’s go outside and go ride bikes is one of AtA’s earliest songs. Starting out with a couple of band members jamming and Shem Greenwood barking out lyrics. Let’s go outside and go ride bikes is inspired by the awful things you say as a kid on the playground and how all is forgiven by the end of the day.
Originally there were a lot more verses to the song, some involving hamsters being thrown over the garage and dares involving eating a praying mantis. The lyrics below are what we currently perform and recorded on the CD.

Let’s go outside and go ride bikes,
Let’s go outside and go ride bikes,
Let’s go outside and go ride bikes!

Your sister looks like Donkey Kong
Your sister looks just like Donkey Kong
And not even the pretty girl version of Donkey Kong
but the ugly boy one.

Let’s go outside and go ride bikes,
Let’s go outside and go ride bikes,
Let’s go outside and go ride bikes!

Your Mother got a divorce from your Father,
Your Mother got a divorce from your Father,
They told you it wasn’t your fault but it was cause you get bad grades.

Let’s go outside and go ride bikes,
Let’s go outside and go ride bikes,
Let’s go outside and go ride bikes!

I found some panties behind the gas station,
I found some panties behind the gas station,
and they were really big and dirty
so they must’ve been your mom’s!

Let’s go outside and go ride bikes,
Let’s go outside and go ride bikes,
Let’s go outside and go ride bikes!

We can ride to Japan!
Ride as fast as you can!

1,2,3, Let’s Go!

AtA is hitting the road!

Does everbody know about our epic and first ever tour starting August 3rd? Are you excited? Because we are! We are looking forward to playing in new cities, and seeing those of you that have asked us to pass through your town, and of course we will have our new album with us which has only been out less than a month.
So at the moment we have shows scheduled in San Francisco, LA, San Diego, Las Vegas, and Salt Lake City and we're working on filling in the agenda. We are looking for good places to play and stay while we are on the road. Maybe you know a good place for one of our street performances, or something worth checking out while we are on the road. Let us know!
Looking to get our new album now? You can buy it here.

Good times at the Backspace!

We had an awesome show at The Backspace with Tequila Mockingbird Orchestra from Canada and Negara from PDX this past Tuesday.
Also Michael was recently interviewed on  Kink 101.9, You can catch the interview here.
If your looking for us this weekend the band is going to Eugene's Saturday Market, and then back to PDX for The Big Busk where we will be galavanting downtown in our usual fashion.
All the Apparatus is also less than three weeks away from our west coast tour. We will be taking the bus down the California coast, up through Nevada, passing through Utah and Idaho, then back to home, sweet home, PDX.

Hello 2011!!

Okay okay, so its almost halfway through February, a bit late to be bidding the new year a fond hello, but what can I say?

We've been super busy.

2010 was a pretty wild year for ATA, and 2011 is shaping up to be even wilder! Here is whats coming up.

In the coming few weeks we will be heading into the studio with audio wizard David Eaton to begin working on the new record. With a little luck and a lot of elbow grease we should have it ready for your smooth and shapely hands by this June. We are all very excited about this album. It is going to be a mix of both live and in-studio tracks. Most of them new, and a few completely renovated old favorites. When the recording process begins we will be posting video, audio and good old fashioned text updates here on the website, so check back often in the coming weeks.

To tide you over, we recorded a 5 song EP called 'Deer Milk' which can be heard for free and purchased HERE.

As the weather gradually improves we will have more and more opportunities to get out on the streets and play. Our regular show schedule of Saturdays around Pioneer Square from 7pm to 10pm will still be something you can set your watch by. Unless, of course, its raining cats and dogs...and even then we have been known to throw caution to the wind and play anyway. You can always follow us on twitter for updates on where we will be playing next by going HERE and doing the whole twitter-follow-thing.

This August we will be hitting the road for our first tour to promote the new record. If you would like us to come to your town, please drop us a line ( Alltheapparatus@gmail.com ) and we will see what we can arrange.

And finally, if you do a google image search for All The Apparatus, this portrait of Capt. N A Jatsuk pops up in the mix. He has nothing to do with the band, having died in 1912 and all, but his coolness factor is off the charts! He was one of Russias first test pilots, and bears a striking resemblance to our own Al Rosales. Coincidence? You be the Judge.

Much Love

P.S. We have T Shirts Now! Some of you begged, pleaded even and we caved. They are available for sale for just $10 and come in Black and Burgundy. Currently they are only available at our street shows, but we will try to get them in our online store as soon as possible. Heres a bad photo of one with a cute dog (cute dog not included with purchase).

An Update!

Hey everyone!

So it's been a bit quiet here on alltheapparatus.com but that is certainly not true for the band outside of cyberspace! There are a lot of exciting things in the mix that are coming up. So here is a little update for you folks to let you know what happenin'!

First for a bit of bittersweet news: Our violin player Djinn has left the band to pursue his own art. We miss his enthusiasm and grandiose performing spirit, but we are very happy for him and wish him success! You can still find him busking around Portland. He has also written a book of amazing poetry and short stories which you should ask him for when next you see him!

We are nearing completion of a 5 track EP of previously unrecorded songs. If all goes according to plan we should have the EP ready for your hot little hands (or cold hands as we approach winter) around halloween time! The EP will only be pressed a limited amount of times, so be sure to get yours when it's ready! It will be $5 and will be available for purchase at our shows and from our website.

In addition to the EP, we will also be starting to work on our next full length album at the beginning of next year! This will include all of our new material and bigger and better versions of a few old favorites! We will be working with producer David Eaton, who has also worked with acts like Dynamite Hack and The Polyphonic Spree.

We have been playing FREE sidewalk shows every clear-skied saturday night since we arrived in Portland in February and would like to be able to continue. As we get into fall and inevitably into winter, the rains will get heavier and more frequent. We are looking for any covered or indoor places to play if the weather is to foul. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and can be emailed to alltheapparatus@gmail.com or you can call Mike (our ridiculously good looking bass player) at 541-515-1808 with ideas, suggestions or questions.

Don't forget to sign up on the Email list! We will be sending everyone who signs up a FREE song that will not be distributed anywhere else! The only way to get this track is to sign up! In addition to the free track we will have periodic band updates with show dates and special offers (perhaps even more songs that only our email listers will get....) You can sign up by using the widget on this very page! Just look to the right of this text! Yay!

And finally, we want to deeply and genuinely thank everyone who has come out to our shows to share your joy an enthusiasm for life! We would not be able to do what we do without you. Your support has been overwhelming and humbling and we only hope we can continue to put smiles on your faces and a tap to your toe. We love you all. See you on the sidewalks!

Fan Video Contest!

Attention video editing dorks (dont' be offended, thats more than half of us as well and we wear the title with pride!) We are having a contest to see which one of you can put together the best fan video for ANY SONG off our album!

The winning video will be featured as an Easter egg on our next album, as our primary video on our youtube page as well as our website. We have sold over 2000 copies of our first record this year alone (and the year ain't over) so it will be seen by many! You will also receive the runner up prize in addition to being a part of our next record.

The top five runners up will also be featured on our website and the editors will receive free ATA t-shirts handmade by members of the band and a free copy of the next record signed by everyone and showered with hugs and kisses.

The table is WIDE OPEN for whatever concept you wish to pursue. We do have some videos for a few songs already, but don't let that stop you if you feel you may have another great take on the song.

All submissions should be in no later than August 15th!

RSVP if you wish to participate!

If you really want to have band members in your video we can certainly arrange that. Just let us know when and where and who and we will try to work it out with you. Email us with any other questions!

Love you all!
