An Update!

Hey everyone!

So it's been a bit quiet here on alltheapparatus.com but that is certainly not true for the band outside of cyberspace! There are a lot of exciting things in the mix that are coming up. So here is a little update for you folks to let you know what happenin'!

First for a bit of bittersweet news: Our violin player Djinn has left the band to pursue his own art. We miss his enthusiasm and grandiose performing spirit, but we are very happy for him and wish him success! You can still find him busking around Portland. He has also written a book of amazing poetry and short stories which you should ask him for when next you see him!

We are nearing completion of a 5 track EP of previously unrecorded songs. If all goes according to plan we should have the EP ready for your hot little hands (or cold hands as we approach winter) around halloween time! The EP will only be pressed a limited amount of times, so be sure to get yours when it's ready! It will be $5 and will be available for purchase at our shows and from our website.

In addition to the EP, we will also be starting to work on our next full length album at the beginning of next year! This will include all of our new material and bigger and better versions of a few old favorites! We will be working with producer David Eaton, who has also worked with acts like Dynamite Hack and The Polyphonic Spree.

We have been playing FREE sidewalk shows every clear-skied saturday night since we arrived in Portland in February and would like to be able to continue. As we get into fall and inevitably into winter, the rains will get heavier and more frequent. We are looking for any covered or indoor places to play if the weather is to foul. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated and can be emailed to alltheapparatus@gmail.com or you can call Mike (our ridiculously good looking bass player) at 541-515-1808 with ideas, suggestions or questions.

Don't forget to sign up on the Email list! We will be sending everyone who signs up a FREE song that will not be distributed anywhere else! The only way to get this track is to sign up! In addition to the free track we will have periodic band updates with show dates and special offers (perhaps even more songs that only our email listers will get....) You can sign up by using the widget on this very page! Just look to the right of this text! Yay!

And finally, we want to deeply and genuinely thank everyone who has come out to our shows to share your joy an enthusiasm for life! We would not be able to do what we do without you. Your support has been overwhelming and humbling and we only hope we can continue to put smiles on your faces and a tap to your toe. We love you all. See you on the sidewalks!

Fan Video Contest!

Attention video editing dorks (dont' be offended, thats more than half of us as well and we wear the title with pride!) We are having a contest to see which one of you can put together the best fan video for ANY SONG off our album!

The winning video will be featured as an Easter egg on our next album, as our primary video on our youtube page as well as our website. We have sold over 2000 copies of our first record this year alone (and the year ain't over) so it will be seen by many! You will also receive the runner up prize in addition to being a part of our next record.

The top five runners up will also be featured on our website and the editors will receive free ATA t-shirts handmade by members of the band and a free copy of the next record signed by everyone and showered with hugs and kisses.

The table is WIDE OPEN for whatever concept you wish to pursue. We do have some videos for a few songs already, but don't let that stop you if you feel you may have another great take on the song.

All submissions should be in no later than August 15th!

RSVP if you wish to participate!

If you really want to have band members in your video we can certainly arrange that. Just let us know when and where and who and we will try to work it out with you. Email us with any other questions!

Love you all!

HELP!!

Friends!

Mike's Bass is broken! He cannot rock! Luckily, he has a solo record for sale that could help him fund the repairs. It can be heard and purchased here: "SAVE THE BASS!!"

Be one of the very very very very few to own a copy of his first official release 'Sir Anthony's Ghost - Severance Songs'

If you do happen to buy a copy, come and let him know at one of our many sidewalk shows and he will reward you with a kiss right on the mouth! (or, if you would prefer, a warm and friendly handshake...but who would want that!?)

Live Show Update! Be Privy To Guerilla Show Locations!

Hey Folks!
Many of you know that All The Apparatus is most at home playing on the streets and sidewalks of Portland. Before, people used to just get to see us by chance, but no longer! We have joined the cultural phenomenon known as Twitter and will be tweeting the locations of our street shows mere hours before they begin!

Portland city regulations require us to move every hour so we often play three street corners a night. Follow our handy "Where is All The Apparatus?" twitter account at:

You can even send us direct messages to check if we are still at a certain location, just send a message to our account and we will respond, like magic! Hooray technology!

See you on the streets!

Love, ATA

Americas Got All The Apparatus!

So yes, we auditioned for NBC's Americas Got Talent this last Monday. No word on whether we got in or not.

America's Got Talent tryouts

All the Apparatus was recruited while busking the streets of Portland, last Saturday, February 27, by scouts from NBC's America's Got Talent. We were given a special audition time for Monday, March 1st, and decided it would be interesting to try our luck. The tryouts went well and, at the very least, luck offered us the following little promotion:

Excuse me Mr. Newsman, that wasn't very nice.

Wish us luck!

The Fuzz!

Our most sincere thanks to all who came out and saw us tonight at Pioneer Square. Sadly, we were shut down by Portland's Finest before we had a chance to finish our second set, but the crowds enthusiasm was infectious and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. For those of you who didn't get to see us, do not fret! We will be playing free street shows every Saturday for the next few weeks as we establish ourselves here on this fair city. Keep coming back here to get the time and location for the next All The Apparatus Extravaganza! We love you all!

A Portland observation

All the Apparatus made front page of The Portland Observer in The last Last Thursday? a story discussing residential concern over the unstructured nature of the Last Thursday street event in the Alberta Arts District.

Meet Djinn!

On our very first sojourn into the streets of Portland, we heard this chap masterfully playing his violin on the same street we planned to busk on. We paused for a moment to appreciate his art and moved down the block to our spot. After a few minutes of playing we saw him appear at the edge of the very small and very cold crowd that had gathered to sway back and forth to our barking melodies. With only a moments hesitation he opened up his violin case and joined in with the music. Because his violin sounds so very sweetly and because he is an incredibly cool human being we have asked him to join our little group of revelers, and to our eternal thanks he accepted. When you see us on the street, shake him warmly by the hand. He will look into your eyes and heal your soul from the inside out.
